My Dash

Family is important in every ones life whether it is you family or the the lack there of one. They help guide you and push you in the right direction. I am lucky enough to have all of my family around me to show me how to be a good person, be successful ,and happy in life. My friends are around me and they help push me as well but there isn't always a floor where they push you. Certain people and objects are important in ones life, but I feel that it is more about specific moments that create who you are.

I remember watching baseball for the first time with my dad. I had always known it had existed but this was the first time i took the time to actually watch. My 5 year old self sat on the couch as my dad taught me all the players names and who he thought was good and who was a bum. For the rest of that summer when ever there was a wiffle-ball game in the neighborhood I was Wade Boggs. The moment itself may have only lasted ten minutes but it left a huge impression on me, and I continue to follow the game in almost religious fashion.

Another defining moment for me was when I found my moms old record collection. I would pick out an album she would play it for me. Instead of sitting in front of the TV watching Barney I was listening to Abbey Road. I had no idea what they were singing about but I knew that I liked it. I was around second grade and I could name all of the Beatles. I remember how sad I was when I found out that they weren't around anymore and in fact one of them was dead. Since then music was and has been really important to me.

Big events have passed by me in my life, but it seems that they really mean nothing to me once I get passed them. There was this big build up to graduation, but I really couldn't care less about it. I was just going through the motions doing the things that I needed to do. To me the smaller things are more important in life and they are what makes up my dash.
